advanced Goalkeeper Training
South Country Youth Soccer is hosting Advanced Goalkeeper training for current Goalkeepers. We are pleased to have Rhode Island College Head Coach Kyle Froberg leading these sessions. Kyle was the former URI Men's Soccer Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach. Kyle is also a former URI Goalkeeper.
This training is for existing goalkeepers from age U10-U16. The training will not only focus on the basics like positioning, catching the ball, and shot stopping, but every session will also cover more advanced material ranging from handling crosses, distribution, and diving. Learn all the important aspects of goalkeeping while having fun at the same time. Don't miss out - Spots are limited! SOUTH COUNTY WINTER ACADEMY
The SCYSC Winter Academy program provides a safe, fun, and structured environment for soccer players in our community who are looking to further develop their skills. The program is run by local coaches who will focus on the players' balance, agility, and physical development as it relates to soccer, teamwork, and communication. Sessions will be structured to focus on individual ball skills as well as allowing the kids to play in small sided games. Please bring a properly inflated soccer ball (size 3 for U8 and younger, size 4 for U9-U12), water, shin guards, and cleats.
Bridge Academy for players born 2016-2018 The SCYSC Winter Bridge Academy is for U6-U8 Recreational players (boys and girls born in 2016-2018). This program is for Rec players who are competitive in their Rec programs and looking to advance. All registered players in our Bridge Academy will receive a SCYSC training t-shirt. Winter Academy for players born 2012-2016
The SCYSC Winter Academy is for U8-U12 players (boys and girls born in 2012-2016). It is recommended for current competitive team players and recreational players who are excelling and looking to play at a higher level. Session 1: November-December

Open Play Nights
We are providing an open play pass for registered competitive players on Friday nights. Co-ed teams will be split randomly each night. Coaches will have minimal involvement in style of play and will focus on equal play through substitutions. Each player must bring a light and dark shirt, water, shin guards, and cleats.
Times / age groups are subject to change weekly depending on numbers. Cost: Open Play is free for registered competitive players. Registration is not required. Drop-Ins are available for $10/session for all others (Rec players, friends, non SCYSC members). Payment can be made via cash at the field or Venmo @SouthCounty-Soccer. |
Junior Referee course
The Junior Referee course is targeted for 10-13 year olds with soccer knowledge and playing experience who are interested in becoming referees. Registrants should have a desire and intent to referee SCYSC Recreational games in the upcoming Spring Season on Saturday mornings (ranging from U8-U14). This course will include a mandatory group training session on Monday 11/6 and a second individual training/mentoring session on Friday night of the registrant's choice during our Competitive Open Play (as games are available).
