Player Development
South County Youth Soccer Club is committed to developing each player to the best of her/his abilities. To understand the importance of this commitment, it is necessary to look beyond the result of a single game. Development is a long term commitment, and South County is dedicated to working with each and every player to instill a solid foundation of soccer skills, knowledge, and physical fitness. South County prides itself on a tradition of excellence in training and competition, and, more importantly, on the development of integrity, morality, and self-confidence. South County also seeks to develop among our players lasting friendships, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Above all, South County values having fun playing soccer.
Within US soccer, there is a concerted effort underway to move from a team-centric approach to individual player development. This change in focus means that South County team rosters are more dynamic, and players move more easily from team to team as their individual skills develop. The goal of South County Youth Soccer is to group players with similar skill sets. The ultimate goal is to develop large numbers of advanced skilled players at each age and gender group in order to create more competitive teams. Creating larger numbers of skilled players becomes ever more important as the rosters grow from 12-14 players for U12 to 18 players for U14 and above. To facilitate this development, South County makes the effort for same age and gender teams to train together. South County's commitment to play development has proved very successful. Our players have performed at the highest levels on middle school, high school, and college soccer teams.
