about the recreation (rec) program

The SCYSC Recreation program runs in the fall and spring and attracts over 600 players annually, covering the broadest age groups in the club: U3-U4 TinyTykes and U5-U14 In-house Rec. Player development progresses with the age of the players - establishing foundational skills and knowledge in our younger groups (U3-U8), small group attacking and defending in the tween years (U9-U12) and team development in the older group (U13+). Rec players develop a love for the game as well as soccer skills and fundamentals. Rec Soccer is an opportunity to play with friends, learn the game and maintain an interest in soccer while participating in other sports and activities. It is also an important stepping stone to Competitive (travel) soccer for those players who decide they want to play at a more competitive level.
