advanced Goalkeeper Training

South Country Youth Soccer is hosting Advanced Goalkeeper training for current Goalkeepers. We are pleased to have Rhode Island College Head Coach Kyle Froberg leading these sessions. Kyle was the former URI Men's Soccer Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach. Kyle is also a former URI Goalkeeper.
This training is for existing goalkeepers from age U11-U16. The training will not only focus on the basics like positioning, catching the ball, and shot stopping, but every session will also cover more advanced material ranging from handling crosses, distribution, and diving. The modern goalkeeper's job is more than to only stop shots and here you will learn all the important aspects while having fun at the same time! The SCYSC Winter Academy program provides a safe, fun, and structured environment for soccer players in our community who are looking to further develop their skills. The Winter Academy is targeted to girls and boys born between 2013-2018 (U5-U10) and is ideal for current competitive players and recreational players who are looking to play soccer at a higher level. The program is run by local coaches who will focus on the players' balance, agility, and physical development as it relates to soccer, teamwork, and communication. Sessions will be structured to focus on individual ball skills as well as allowing the children to play in small sided games. All registered players will receive a SCYSC Academy T-Shirt if they did not participate in Session 1. Please bring a properly inflated soccer ball (size 3 for U8 and younger, size 4 for U9-U12, size 5 for U14+), water, shin guards, and cleats.

Open Play Nights

We are providing an open play pass for registered competitive players on Friday nights at WWIS. Co-ed teams will be split randomly each night and play approximately 25 minute halves. Coaches will have minimal involvement in style of play and will focus on equal play through substitutions. Each player must bring a light and dark shirt, water, shin guards, and cleats.

Times / age groups are subject to change weekly depending on numbers. Cost: Open Play is free for registered competitive players. Drop-Ins are available for $5/session for all others (Rec players, friends, non SCYSC members).Payment can be made via cash at the field or Venmo @SouthCounty-Soccer. |
