COMPETITIVE SOCCER
Competitive Soccer (formerly called "Travel") is a South County program designed for players looking to advance their skills and abilities through training and participating in matches at a higher level of competition than recreational soccer. Players, especially at the younger ages, do not need to be advanced; rather they need the drive to work hard on their skills. This requires a player and their family to make a more significant commitment to the game and their team as compared to our Recreational soccer program. Players competing in our Competitive Program play in the Rhode Island league, the Superliga. Teams play against other RI teams. Most SCYSC Travel teams practice 1-2 times weekly in South Kingstown. Games are typically on the weekends with half the games in a season at "home" (South Kingstown), and half the games "away" (another town in RI). Players that make a competitive team may also participate with that team in tournaments, including the Seaside Classic.
