Volunteers

The Seaside Classic is our one big fundraiser event for South County Youth Soccer. The revenues generated by this 100% volunteer led-tournament go to South County Youth Soccer and help to subsidize registration costs for all families, maintain the grounds and fields, purchase new equipment, provide the professional coaching support at practices, and help to create the entirety of the support system of SCYSC.

Inevitably, the success of this tournament and its enormous contributution to South County Youth Soccer Club participants each year is directly linked to the volunteer time to plan for, prep, manage and break down the event.

Whether you are a member of the South County Youth Soccer Club or a member of the larger South County community, we appreciate all of your efforts in helping to promote the mission of our Club in promoting sportsmanship, sense of community, athletic skills, teamwork and confidence. Thank you for volunteering and playing an essential role in this very special event!

If you have any questions or you would like to help out at next year's event, please contact our Director of Volunteers, Kerrie Corbett.

Roles & REsponsibilities

  • Main Tent Assistant: Serves as the primary interface to participant needs and concerns. Greets participants, provides information, redirects to website, escalates major issues to Site Leader. Assists site leaders with coordination of volunteers, recording scores, addressing game, player, and fan issues. Serve as backup for Runners for various odd jobs.
  • Runner: Handles all sorts of odd jobs including delivering referees to fields; picking up ice; grabbing game cards from field marshals; helping people with finding fields; water and merchandise sales in the tent; assisting volunteers at the main tents; checking sanitizer/toilet paper in port-a-johns; consolidating and emptying trash/recycle through the day.
  • Field Monitor: Field Marshals are the eyes and ears on the field and our Tournament Ambassadors! Field Marshals collect game reports from referees and report in the game scores, ensure fans aren’t getting out of hand, and communicate to the main tents for missing refs, bad behavior, or health and safety issues on or off the field. This is also the best position to watch games!
  • Field Set Up (Wed, Thurs, & Fri leading up to tourney): Loading and unloading the rental truck. Setup and organize main venue tent areas. Setup of goals, sandbags, flags, and garbage bins.
  • Field Clean Up (Saturday): Evening trash/recycling removal. Involves cleaning up loose trash, emptying bins, and getting fields ready for Sunday.
  • Field Clean Up (Sunday): Empty trash/recycling and remove any loose trash from the fields. Collect all equipment including tents, breaking down goals, and loading the truck rental.
