about the recreation (rec) program
The SCYSC Recreation program runs in the fall and spring. Between U3-U4 TinyTykes and U5-U14 Recreation, the program attracts over 600 players annually. Player development progresses with the age of the players - establishing foundational skills and knowledge in our younger groups (U3-U8), small group attacking and defending in the tween years (U9-U12) and team development in the older group (U13+). It is an important stepping stone to Competitive (travel) soccer for those who want to play at a more competitive level. Come play with friends, learn the game and maintain an interest in soccer!
Beginning in the 2026–27 season, SCYSC will adopt the school-year, grade-based age grouping recommended by US Youth Soccer, aligning players with their school peers.

Registration & uniform
- U5 - U14 Players: Preschool - 8th grade, all teams are co-ed
- Fee: $120, includes uniform shirts
- Family Discount Available: 2nd child: $5 off, 3rd-8th child: $10 off. In order to receive this discount, please add each child's registration to your cart and then checkout
- Missed registration: Join our waitlist and we will do our best to accommodate you. Late registrants are not guaranteed placement on a team and may not qualify for a family discount
- Teams: We cannot guarantee any requests for certain players to be on the same team or with certain coaches

Volunteer coaches will receive support from a professional soccer coach who will help guide every practice session. Coaching is a great opportunity to be more involved in your child's youth sports experience and a positive role model for kids in the community. The smiles on the kids' faces can be extremely rewarding. Not to mention, it is fun!

Developed by Challenger Sports' soccer experts and child development professionals, TinyTykes is an innovative curriculum that introduces young players to the basic skills needed in soccer as well as developing their motor, social, and psychological skills. Professional coaches combine soccer with fun games, stories, and skill building activities that will keep your child entertained and excited to return each week.
