The South County U10 Girls showed incredible strength and skill across all three brackets during the first Indoor Session at WWIS, bringing in two first place finishes and one runner-up.
In the U10C bracket, a collection of U9 and U10 girls coached by Mark Wholey and Ryan Kanaczet did a fantastic job all session long, beating every team they faced at least once. The Sunday tournament was a challenging day of soccer and the girls played very well throughout the 95 minutes of game time they were faced with. The girls registered their first two shut outs of the season in the first two rounds of the playoffs, dominating Ocean State (4-0) and Chariho (5-0), and tallying another 2 in the final against Warwick. A very impressive day offensively led by Ella Wholey and Ava Wentworth, who both had multiple goal games. Additional goal scoring by Brooke Kanaczet, Brianna Silbert, Alyssa Howe, and Emily Bamford rounded out the numbers. The defense really stepped up to the plate and did what they had to do to keep the opposition in check. There were several really impressive combinations of passes throughout the day also. From the back line all the way to the back of the net. In the final, South had several girls who were bumped up a bit, but they kept coming, right to the last whistle of over time, nearly knocking in the golden goal on 4 occasions in the short 5 minute overtime. Unfortunately, the penalty kicks did not fall in South's favor, but the girls can take away from this session that they are a very strong group of players, persistent and do NOT give up. Great job South!
