In the opening round of the U.S. Region 1 President's Cup, our boys representing Rhode Island beat Maryland 3-0, beat Connecticut 3-2, and tied Massachusett #2 1-1. Due to losing the 2nd tie breaker to Mass #2 in this round, the boys were entered into the Wild Card area with the other two groups.
In the tie breaker, our U16's beat Virginia and Eastern New York to enter the semi-finals against the Massachusett's #1 team (a national Power House) where it lost 5-1. This was just one win short of going to the Nationals. Congratulations to these boys coached by Andy Curtis and Bob Berard! Only a couple Rhode Island teams have gotten this far in a National USYS tournament in the last ten years and this is quite an achievement for this team and the Club.
