South County Girls U-12 Undefeated at Nashua Columbus Tourney

Print this Article Written by: Tracey Fairbrother Monday, December 1, 2008The members of the girls U-12 South County Strikers were the victorious champions at the 2008 Nashua World Cup Columbus Day Tournament. The Strikers were undefeated in this tournament. They outscored their opponents 14-2 during regular tounament play. They advanced to the semifinals and beat Sea Coast United 3 to 1.
The Strikers went into the finals undefeated playing against another undefeated team from Westborough, MA. The Westborough team had not had any goals scored against them the entire tournament.
The South County Strikers came out into this game fighting and determined to win. Key offensive players for the Strikers were Britney Laraway, Rachel Murphy, Olivia Finnegan, Jessica Elliott, and Antonetta Mairano. The Strikers solid defense was led by Ella DeMarco, Katelyn Marcellino, Lisa DeMoranville, and Aly Fairbrother. The Striker's goalie, Stephanie Laraway, was unstoppable. She had an heroic performance that helped seal her team's victory over Westboroough 1-0.
The coaches for this undefeated South County Striker team are Katie Laraway and Scott Marcellino. They have volunteered countless hours of their time to coach this talented team. As of today, the Strikers are undefeated in Fall 2008 Super Liga play and look forward to their continued success.
